It's finally time to look ahead and get ready for the New Year. 2008 is right around the corner.
The problem is that I don't have a 2008 calendar in the house expect for an ugly ad-covered one that's temporarily hanging on the wall.
One of the best photo projects I made last year from Shutterfly was a photo calendar. The quality was amazing and the photos were vivid.
You only need 12 photos to create a calendar and so all I do is go back and pick one photo from each month of this past year. For example, for January 2008, I'll pick a photo from January 2007 of the kids skiing. For August 2008, I'll pick a photo of the kids in the pool or on a trip to the beach. That way each month has a "topical" photo that's appropriate for the season. Easy enough, right?
Kodak Gallery (formerly Ofoto) is having a 20% off sale on photo calendars right now.
If you're on vacation have some time, you might also be interested in creating some photo gifts or books for a year in review. Believe me, you'll be glad you did once your photo keepsake arrives. And I guarantee that guests that come over to your home and see it will ooooh and ahhhh over it each time.
Every once in a while - which is becoming more than once in awhile, friends ask about which credit cards I'm using to gain points, etc.
They all seem to have been trained to think that "airline miles" are the best credit cards to carry in their wallet. Someone will whip out their Delta Skymiles card for example.
I beg to differ and beg them to switch right now. What's even more painful is to see friends use credit cards that accrue absolutely nothing (plain vanilla mastcard or visa for example). If they own their own business or are doctors, dentists, etc, they have tons of expenses they are charging and get nuttin out of it!
Here's the card I use and recommend: American Express Starwood Card.
There's several benefits which clearly make this better than the plain old miles cards:

Your Personal Dale & Thomas Gift Card Coupon Code:
It's not as as good as the completely free Popcorn offer from Dale & Thomas I shared earlier this year, but hey, it's real $15 worth of popcorn discount!
Personally, I've always shopped at The Popcorn Factory for pop corn gifts. The quality and selection is a bit more diverse for different holidays, occasions ("Thank You tins" for example) vs. buying a "brand" like Dale & Thomas.
The other big advantage of The Popcorn Factory is that they have a much bigger selection of gifts under $20 usually.
