Girl Dies on Rollercoaster Ride at Disneyland

Summer is here and that usually means thrill rides at amusement parks are a part of it.

But with the recent news of the Six Flags amputation accident and now another death on a Disneyland rollercoaster where a teen girl died this week, perhaps it's and sign for us all.

Although it is at the Disneyland Paris, the track is reported to be the same exact as the original "Rock 'n' Roller Coaster" that is at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. This death happened less than 1 year from the death on the same ride at the Orlando Fl. location. There is no prrof that they are by related causes, but it is enough to give anyone pause.

Here's a video of the Paris ride. Not all the details are known until the autopsy is finished, scheduled for Tuesday. But this is the first death at the Disneyland Paris facility. Pray for the family and the grief that they are obviously going through right now.

Here's news updates on the teen girl that died on the Rock'n'Roller Coaster at Disneyland Paris:

SIX FLAGS UPDATE: Teen Girl Identified, In Stable Condition

The teenage girl that was involved in the accident of the failed Superman Tower of Power ride at Six Flags KY Kingdom finally came out publicly making a statement. She has been treated at Lasitter Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

The girl, Kaitlyn Lasitter, is a student at Highland Middle School in the Jefferson County publtic school system in Kentucky.

Here is the statement released from the family and more news articles about her status:

Statement from hospital regarding Kaitlyn Lasitter

07:51 PM EDT on Tuesday, June 26, 2007

The parents of Kaitlyn Lasitter would like to acknowledge everyone across the country that have been supporting their daughter with many positive thoughts and prayers over the last six days.

At this time Kaitlyn remains in stable condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Kaitlyn’s parents would like to state for the record that despite claims in the media by representatives from Kentucky Kingdom Theme Park, at no time has any representative of the theme park been in touch with members of the family.

Until further notice Kaitlyn’s parents ask members of the news media to please respect their wishes for privacy during this difficult time.

And the status of the investigation is no where near closure apparently:

And in a separate unrelated accident, another girl has died in a rollercoaster accident at Disneyland

Free Six Flags Great Adventure Tickets for 3

If you have a child that's 3 or under, they are now eligible for a free full-admission ticket to Six Flags Great Adventure, like the one in Jackson, NJ of the NJ Turnpike.

One of the best tips is to buy the tickets online before you go and print them out so that you can bypass the long lines at the gate and get going on the rides as soon as possible.

This tip is most valuable if you're smart enough to plan your day and get to the park when it opens. That's the time where you can ride the best rides over and over again for the first 2 hours of the day when the park is the least crowded.

Although there are less people at Great Adventure when it opens, there's still lines to buy admission tickets to Six Flags in the morning. No sense waiting on those lines.

You can simply pay for Six Flags tickets at their site and bring them with you. Then just go straight to the entrance stalls and run to the first ride!

Blockbuster Total Access Alternative

Blockbuster recently rolled out a $4.99/month service for their online DVD movie rental service to try and align it's plans better with the majority of consumer's real movie watching habits. Do you REALLY watch 4-6 movies EVERY month? If not, the $5 movie rental plan might be for you.

intelliflix online dvd rentals!

However, if you are even more realistic, $4/month might be better on your wallet for the same thing. Intellifix is a competing DVD rental service that does the same thing as NetFlix and Blockbuster Total Access, but for less.

Intellifix has plans starting from $3.99. That plus the fact that Consumer Reports just rated Intellifix the best DVD movie rental service -- even better than Netflix and Blockbuster -- should be enough to give them a try.

Of course, they have a free trial period so you can test out really how fast they ship the movies to your door.

VACATION TIME!

School's out and everyone in our house is thinking vacation time....

Time to dream about where to go on summer vacation, what to do so the kids can have tons of fun. The Carribean is a great place since it's really close by and accessible to the States and it has really nice resorts - some all inclusive.

Beaches/The Caribbean's hottest family adventureThere isn't a kid in the world who doesn't adore Sesame Street. How about a vacation with Elmo and friends? All week long, kids can enjoy a Beaches exclusive Family Adventure Promotion, featuring life-size walk-around characters of Cookie Monster, Grover, Zoe, Bert, Ernie, and of course Elmo all week.
Beaches Resorts (you must have heard of them before), have family-friendly resorts in Boscobel, Negril, Sandy Bay and Turks & Caicos.

They have a bunch of integrated activities all day at the beach resort like:
  • Character Breakfasts
Specially themed breakfast with Elmo and friends. The type where the characters walk around and interact with each child.

  • Sundays at the Movies
Sesame Street characters go around and visit with everyone before children's movies with a sundae-making kiosk and snacks, popcorn and drinks, etc.

  • Character Parades
Sesame Street and other dressed up characters get all the kids in the resort to participate in a parade with music, clowns and costumes.

  • Stage Shows - live entertainment on stage

  • Story Time With Elmo - Elmo interacts with the kids and tells stories

  • Bake with Cookie Monster - Kids get into the kitchen and make fresh cookies with the staff. Cookie monster teaches the kids how to eat like a monster.

  • Dance with Zoe - One of the really fun activities - ring games, line dancing, ribbon dancing are all stuff kids giggle when they do it. Zoe comes and sees everyone dance.

  • Make Music with Bert and Ernie - Both dancing and music time.

You want a vacation where you don't need a vacation when you get back. Beaches Resorts is a great option since they have tons of kids programs to tire the kids out all day, they have all inclusive pacakges where you don't have to worry about anything, they have night activities for the parents, the resort itself has a lot of stuff to do where you don't need to leave to do other things if you don't want.
And with these "themed" options, it gives the kids something they are familiar with already to get them playing as soon as you hit the beach.

Blockbuster vs. NetFlix $4.99 Plan Comparison

Blockbuster just announced a new DVD rental plan for $4.99/month. In keeping with Blockbuster's strategy to undercut NetFlix with plan features, you'll get 12 more video or game rentals with Blockbuster-by-mail vs. Netflix at the $4.99/month price level.

Netflix only offers 2 movies a month, 1 at a time via mail for $4.99. Blockbuster's $4.99 plan also gives you 2 DVD rentals per month by mail, but you also get a bonus coupon for a free additional movie or game rental from the Blockbuster store every month. Thus you get 12 rentals per year free for the same price. Another added bonus with any kids in the house -- the coupons are good for game rentals, not just videos!

Separately, Blockbuster slashed their unlimited Total Access plan price to $16.99, making it literally cheaper than Netflix for the same unlimited service.

Netflix offers only 2 movies / month at $4.99

Marvin Janzen

Impressed with the quick response to my questions. Thank you for the live chat service.

Paul Bammel
I was getting signed up for your hosting service. I had first looked online to see what all was available, and with so many companies to choose from, I was a bit nervous that there may have been some providers who were out to get my money. So, when I was signing up, I was reading the terms of service and all of a sudden Richard, one of the customer service representatives for [your company] popped up onto my screen in the form of a chat box. He was able to guide me through the ordering process and really made me feel secure in my purchase. I look forward to having my web site with Globat.com now and am sure that I will keep it there for years to come.

Jerry Isenhart
My attention to [your company] started with your extremely good pricing, combined with HIGH SPEED data transmission. Once I established those two were true I started moving my domains. I used your servers for a year, to host graphics for my main site. 99.999 percent up time is conservative. I encountered superb customer support. I really like the On-Line Chat feature, with an ability to talk with people at any hour of the day/night and get good help. Your people understand your products and are always polite and helpful & every time I log on to [your company] to manage my domains, I see more new features and improvements. I know I am with an aggressive forward thinking company that must be doing something right because the products just get better and better. P.S. Your Instructional On-Line Videos are incredible.

Chris Brothers
I have been with [your company] for about 6 months now, and I am very pleased with their service. I switched to [your company] from another server who charged $20 a month and didn't have even 1/4 of what [your company] offers in their $7/month plan. I'm saving $200/year now that I have switched from my old server. Now, to top that off, [your company] DOUBLED everything: disk space, bandwidth, and email addresses. That was thrilling! They have good customer support, and the wait times for phone support are short. I would highly recommend Globat.com for anyone, whether new to web site publishing, or more experienced.

Hugh Foley
[your company] has made it easy for me to be online with a basic site. I have been able to work on my site fluently since signing on with you. When I called for help to your 24 hour service line, I received a friendly and knowledgeable technical service person who answered my questions about the server. Hope you have a great new year.

Rainer Hegendoerfer
After much bad experience with other hosting providers we found [your company] and decided to try it since their offer of space, traffic, etc. for that price was excellent. At first we were unsure, if [your host] can accomplish quality hosting at such low prices, but now, after several months, our answer is "YES" - [you] can do it and did it! There were no downtimes and only very few problems, which their around-the-clock support solved immediately while always being very friendly. We now moved two other sites [to your hosting company]. We trust them with our business and recommended you to our partners and everyone we know.

Trish Bennett

I run a large fan site for Johnny Depp, which takes an enormous amount of time and resources. With his popularity at an all-time high, I suddenly found people all over the web hotlinking to the files from my site for their own sites and message boards. The problem was getting out of hand, costing me money in additional bandwidth charges or shutting my site down completely when the bandwidth limit was reached. All it took was one mention... about the problem, and the tech support team went to work to find me a viable solution. I am happy to say my site is now completely protected from the misuse of others on the web, and I no longer have the added expense and headaches of dealing with it all.I just want to say "thank you" to the team for your tireless efforts in solving my bandwidth problems and bending over backwards to help the site run smoothly. I really appreciate it.

Cyber Cafe
Empire State Building Heartland Brewery
Heartland Brewery Chophouse
Heartland Brewery South Street Seaport

The above restuarants are all pretty much nice places to eat in the city. Especially after running around on a hot summer day trying to hit various tourist spots. Although it may be hard to believe, there actually are Big Savings at these destination New York Restaurants like PlanetHollywood, South Sea Street Seaport and others.

Aimed at tourists, The Meal Ticket is a flat-fee voucher that pre-pays for breakfast, lunch and dinner - 3 meals in NYC at 8 different restaurants:

The restuarants on this list are in main tourist areas where you'll want to go in the first place and this is a way to get a great bite to eat in a tourist location itself without having to pay through the nose.

Each restaurant is available for one of the 3 meals for each day. For example, if you go to Planet Hollywood for dinner, you can choose from their "Blockbuster Menu" which means you can order:

If you're in town for more than 1 days, there are discounts to bring the price of each meal down to as low as $17 for each complete meal.

That's a steal! On your own, you won't get out of Planet Hollywood for less than $27-$30+ for dinner, dessert, and drinks.

20% Off Oprah's Book Club Selection at Borders Books

Read an excerpt from this month's selection from Oprah's Book Club: "Middlesex",
ISBN: 0312427735

Spanning eight decades and chronicling the wild ride of a Greek-American family through the vicissitudes of the twentieth century, Jeffrey Eugenides' witty, exuberant novel on one level tells a traditional story about three generations of a fantastic, absurd, lovable immigrant family -- blessed and cursed with generous doses of tragedy and high comedy.

But there's a provocative twist. Cal, the narrator -- also Callie -- is a hermaphrodite. And the explanation for this takes us spooling back in time, through a breathtaking review of the twentieth century, to 1922, when the Turks sacked Smyrna and Callie's grandparents fled for their lives. Back to a tiny village in Asia Minor where two lovers, and one rare genetic mutation, set our narrator's life in motion.

Middlesex is a grand, utterly original fable of crossed bloodlines, the intricacies of gender, and the deep, untidy promptings of desire. It's a brilliant exploration of divided people, divided families, divided cities and nations -- the connected halves that make up ourselves and our world. Justly acclaimed when it was released in Fall 2002, it announces the arrival of a major writer for our times.
